Everything feels tighter after CNY

Omg, I only snacked merrily on day 2 of CNY, where I went to my aunt’s house and she had stocked turkish delights and pineapple tarts. It doesn’t explain why my gym clothes felt so much tighter during my Wednesday workout. Being sick is bad when your appetite doesn’t disappear as it should!

Key words characterising my week:

Phlegm
S$66 medical bill for a simple cold and a ten minute consultation
Drowsiness with periods of lucidity
CNY!!
Abstaining from tarts (still)

Today, my Ultimate Ice-blended was, well, blended exactly the way I wanted it. And the barista was a young girl too, who ironically possessed a better understanding of the optimum proportion of ice and coffee compared to many seasoned Coffee Bean baristas. I was quite happy, although my enjoyment of my coffee was slightly marred by the beginnings of a sore throat.

It has bewildered me that I haven’t had a full-on flu in one year, since a long drawn flu that lasted about three weeks. I guess it’s about time the virus gets the better of me again. It’s too bad it’s coinciding with CNY, but that also means I will be less tempted by pineapple tarts. Also, if my flu cycle is gonna be one year from now on, I certainly don’t mind getting the occasional killer flu attack!

Day 1

First day in Hong Kong! The weather is not as cold as people have been telling me, though I think it would be nice and add to the winter-effect.

After taking a 7am flight into the city, we took a bus to our hotel. Ended up stopping one stop too early, but the taxi fare wasn’t too exorbitant. We were quite pleasantly surprised by the rooms, which were airy and offered a view of the harbor as promised. Quickly decided on Tsui Wah at Wellington Street for lunch. Not bad, a 4 storey place which was well-packed with tourists. We all took a hiatus before setting off again at 7pm for Ladies Market. Tomorrow, it’ll be Lantau Island, for the Giant Buddha and the outlet malls, which I never knew they had! I’ve had two ice milk teas and one starbucks so far!
